There is No Heaven
During their high school years, Han Siyoon vanished without a trace, leaving a certain catastrophic incident to carve fatal, lingering scars into both Ahn Taeju and Do Hyunjun. Four years later, a fateful visit to Hyunjun’s home ends in disaster when Siyoon is discovered by Taeju—now a ruthless gangster—and forcibly inducted into his criminal syndicate. He attempts to flee countless times, but each inevitable capture only deepens the twisted, suffocating love-hate relationship binding him to Taeju.
One day, having finally received Taeju’s rare permission to visit Seoul, Siyoon catches a chance glimpse of Do Hyunjun. The mere sight of him leaves Siyoon helplessly shaken. Driven by the encounter, he declares his intention to officially quit the syndicate, a demand Taeju violently refuses to entertain. Pushed to the absolute edge, Siyoon risks one final, desperate escape to the city where Hyunjun resides…
Can tears well up this quickly? Siyoon wondered, his breath catching in his throat. How could his heart—heavily barricaded and sworn never to open for that man again—burst so effortlessly, like a shattered dam? He rubbed his eyes furiously, desperate to physically scrub the man’s reflection from his retinas.
He had crossed countless agonizing nights thrashing against the memories, yet simply standing before him now, the man completely conquered his soul.
“Because the snow is falling…”
A heavy silence stretched between them.
“…I came to bring you back.”
Taeju silently studied the way Siyoon’s jet-black hair fluttered aimlessly in the winter chill. Seventeen-year-old Han Siyoon stood right there. The very boy who had saved him, then ruined him; the boy who had slaughtered his spirit, only to drag him back to life. Staring at that familiar silhouette, Taeju felt as though he had been violently thrust back to his nineteenth year.
Then, a voice shattered the freezing air, accompanied by rushed footsteps from behind Siyoon.
“Han Siyoon, you forgot your phone…”
It was Han Siyoon’s… Do Hyunjun.
