The Crazy Ex-Boyfriend
After one miserable relationship after another, Dante had finally found the perfect beta boyfriend: Rhys.
Rhys was his first truly stable partner, and for a long while, Dante’s days with him were blissfully happy. Before long, however, insidious little details about Rhys began to feel suspicious.
He had never introduced Dante to a single close friend. Dante had never seen even a single piece of work from the man who claimed to be a sculptor. Worse still, Rhys would vanish for days at a time, like clockwork, every two months.
“Isn’t that cheating?”
“He might even have a whole second household somewhere.”
As the disastrous, toxic endings of his past relationships came flooding back, Dante could no longer control his spiraling anxiety. In a panic, he brought up breaking up.
From then on, they clung to each other, split, and repeated the same agonizing cycle. They kept spinning the wheel until one day, just before their fourth anniversary, Dante told Rhys he wanted to break up for the twenty-first time.
After that day, the obedient, pliant Rhys he thought he knew vanished completely.
“…You never showed me this side of you while we were dating,” Dante murmured, staring at the stranger before him.
Rhys’s gaze turned cold. “You said men weren’t your type, didn’t you? Wasn’t the only reason you dated me because I went along with everything without complaint?”
Dante froze. What, exactly, had their relationship even been all this time?
And on top of that… what kind of twisted sickness made his now-frigid ex-boyfriend look even sexier than before?
Dante could not give up like this. Even if he had to become the pathetic, desperate ex-boyfriend who utterly refused to let go, he was going to win Rhys back.
