Icing on the Cake
Star player hockey top × former mafia bottom
Beautiful top × handsome bottom
Regretful top × unrequited-love bottom
This story features Yuri, a character who appeared in The First Commandment, as the protagonist/bottom. Please keep this in mind. Although it shares the same past-world setting as the connected works, the story itself is not a direct sequel.
Yuri Kiselyov had lived his life at the bottom, dealing only with people of his own kind. Then, one day, something unfamiliar entered his world. He was hired to protect Cherriot Goodnight, a famous North American athlete whose life could not have been further removed from Yuri’s own loathsome existence.
“You’re even prettier up close, Mr. Handsome.”
From the moment they first meet, Cherriot flirts with him despite the fact that they are both alphas. Yuri decides that they are fundamentally incompatible and that he could never grow close to someone like him.
“So Yuri was trash all along.”
And just as expected, no sooner does Yuri accept the job than his relationship with Cherriot rapidly deteriorates. Cherriot, who despises criminals, pushes Yuri away the moment he learns who Yuri really is. Unlike the man who had once approached him with such eagerness, Cherriot now shows open hostility and does not hesitate to wound him with sharp words.
What Yuri had believed to be a simple crime of passion, however, soon transforms into a threat against Cherriot’s life. With no other choice, Yuri temporarily takes on the role of protecting him until Cherriot can find a new bodyguard.
“I thought you didn’t even want to touch a bad man.”
“Hating you and touching you are two separate things.”
Cherriot knows perfectly well that Yuri is a criminal. Yet despite the attitude he first displayed, he gradually begins saying sweet things that leave Yuri confused.
“What do you take me for, Yuri? I can carry someone like you easily. Hockey players aren’t just good at fighting. We’re strong too.”
“Is that the sort you like? Is any omega good enough?”
“No matter how I look at it, I’m more handsome, aren’t I? Even if we’re judging by who’s prettier, isn’t it still me?”
The man Yuri had dismissed as merely frivolous began placing things in his hands that Yuri had never once been allowed to hold.
And in the end, he made Yuri covet a heart he was never supposed to desire.
Though Yuri knows they are people who can never be together, an ember quietly kindles in his heart. Thus begins his devoted journey at Cherriot’s side, all for the sake of protecting him.
